notesUsing the Census Standard Variable TRANSPORT (Method of travel to work) alone to provide counts of mode of transport to work can be misleading as often someone ticks working from home in Question 40 (In your main job, what is the address of your workplace?) as their main workplace but then says they travel by underground/car etc. To be consistent with 2001 mode of transport to work, this variable has been derived taking into account 'working from home' in POWP11 (Place of work indicator) over any mode of transport value given in Question 41 (Method of travel to work). For information on Census Standard variable TRANSPORT (Method of travel to work) see "2011 Census Variable and Classification Information: Part 3 Standard Variables".
