| notes | A family is defined as a group of people who are:
- A married, same-sex civil partnership, or cohabiting couple, with or without children,
Only one person can be the head of the household. It is selected on the basis of the following criteria for household excluding those where all the individuals are under 16:
The criteria priority order is as follows:
1. The oldest person currently working who is a usual resident is the
head of household (HEAHOH = 1);
2. The oldest person currently working is the head of household (HEAHOH = 1);
3. The oldest person in working age (16 ? 65) who is a usual resident is the
head of household (HEAHOH = 1);
4. The oldest person in working age (16 ? 65) is the head of household (HEAHOH = 1);
5. Where the household only contains residents out with working age (16-65)
the youngest person over 65 who is a usual resident is the head of household (HEAHOH = 1);
This type of household could contain a mixture of children (<16) and older adults >65).
6. If rule 5 cannot be applied then the usual resident criterion should be removed from rule 5.
7. The first person on the form.
