Code notes	1971-1978: Blank - See OCSSDFDE 1979-1982: 1 = Employee 2 = Manager 3 = Foreman 4 = Self-employed with employees 5 = Self-employed without employees 9 = Armed forces and non-workers, including full-time students, independent means, no occupation or permanently sick or disabled SPACE = not applicable. If deceased aged under 16 then details of working parent used. Armed forces included under categories 1 or 2 rather than 9 1983-20/04/91: As above. If deceased aged under 16 then mother's employment status used. 21/04/91 onwards: 1=Employee 2=Manager 3=Foreman 4=Self employed - with employees 5=Self employed - without employees 6=Armed forces and non-workers, including full-time students, children, independent means, no occupation or handicapped, permanently sick, dependent relative, housewife/husband, no previous occupation or not stated.
